We are not able to provide a Skilled Worker visa for this position.
You will need to be eligible to work in the UK without our sponsorship to be considered for this role. Please do not apply if you have limited leave to enter or remain in the UK e.g. a visitor visa, a student/graduate visa or an employer-sponsored visa from a previous employer.

Looking to kickstart your career or wanting a career change?

Here's a fantastic opportunity to join our highly influential Smart Energy and Sustainability team, achieve a qualification on the job, and create meaningful positive change in communities across the UK.

From local authorities to universities, and from masterplan developers to asset managers and investors, we’re proud to be shaping organisations’ approach to social value and sustainability, supporting their employees and the communities they operate in.

Broadly speaking, social value consists of seven pillars: health and well-being; community engagement; net-zero carbon goals; diversity, equity & inclusion; employment & skills; responsible procurement; nature & biodiversity. This role would best suit someone fresh from school who is looking for a route into a sustainability career without going to university, or someone excited about a career change who may already have attended university to study something different.

Our apprenticeship programme allows an opportunity to study for an academic qualification as well as gaining professional experience on our projects at the same time! You will be able to develop your technical skills through a variety of projects that you will take on as well as being supported in the development of your softer skills through our early careers program: ‘The Learning Curve’. We are looking to welcome an apprentice who is eager to learn and develop a career in sustainable building design.

What the role looks like

You will:

  • Work with us full time
  • Study virtually with LDN Apprenticeships for 6 hours within your working week. (NB: studies are paid for)
  • Gain a Level 4 Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability (CR&S) Practitioner Qualification

What will you be responsible for?

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Support the delivery of environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategies across corporate, asset and real estate projects
  • Support and learn to lead stakeholder engagement workshops and materiality assessments
  • Social value and impact baseline assessments and strategies
  • Learn how to undertake environmental sustainability reporting as well as input into financial and corporate reporting
  • Support the development of bespoke sustainability & ESG frameworks (with emphasis on Social Value with support from wider SES team for other environmental metrics)

What do I need?

Entry requirements for the apprenticeship are as follows:

  • GCSE A-C or 4-9 in a minimum of five subjects including Maths and English
  • Age 16+
  • You shouldn’t have a degree in sustainability or similar already
  • A proactive attitude
  • Eager to learn
  • Confident in working independently when necessary
  • Time management and organisational skills
  • Passion for supporting people and sustainability

Sounds good? This is Smart Energy & Sustainability

So, what are we about?

This is the elevator pitch. We’re helping clients to unlock cheaper, cleaner and more reliable energy and maximise the potential social, economic and environmental value of their projects, whilst delivering on wider environmental and sustainability principles. Alternatively, here’s the You Tube pitch.

Our work includes:

  • ESG strategy – development, benchmarking, implementation and monitoring
  • Net-zero carbon studies and roadmaps at project and master planning levels
  • Planning application support documents including sustainability / energy strategy and environmental assessments
  • Climate change and adaptation studies
  • Life-Cycle Carbon and Cost Analyses (LCCA)
  • Renewable energy development and consultancy
  • Carbon management verification

We’re passionate about our subject matter and shaping the UK’s response to the climate emergency – here’s our Divisional Director, Josh Bullard talking about the subject matter in summer 2020.

Our team is a unique blend of engineers and consultants and this means we can deliver a wide range of project inputs for our clients from the earliest inception stages and onwards.

Most importantly, you’ll find us a lively, good-spirited team, excited about what we’re doing and enjoying each other’s company, and we’ll be sure to give you a warm welcome too.
