Job description
Who are we?
The Tara Group is a family-owned independent company, consisting of four companies involved in the construction of housing. It was originally founded in 1974 by Noel Sweeney and remains in the ownership of the Sweeney Family. With offices in Chasetown, we employ over 250 across our group and work with over 400 sub-contractors.
Our Group consists of Chasetown Civil Engineering, concentrating on infrastructure and groundworks, Cameron Homes delivering high quality new homes across the Midlands and Keon Homes who work in partnership with local authorities for affordable homes provision as well as delivering homes for the private rental sector (PRS).
Our approach is to stay true to the Company’s founding principles and values - employing a loyal, highly skilled and valued team; we have some of the best people in the industry and build high levels of trust with our clients. We have relationships with clients that go back 40 years, and these trusted, long-standing relationships are a testament to the level of service received and the ability to find solutions.
We pride ourselves on playing an active role within the local area and are proud of being able to support the local community.
What will the role involve?
Current regulations require the Group to complete a periodic Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) submission and annual carbon reporting in line with the Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting Regulation (SECR). In addition, our quoted housebuilder clients are requesting increasing levels of reporting from us as part of their obligations to comply with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate – related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
The Group wishes to improve its measurement and management of its environmental impact by better understanding its current position and implementing objectives and measurable targets towards the UK’s net zero ambitions. Building on a project that was undertaken to establish a baseline for carbon at business level and more frequent reporting together with some actions to reduce our carbon footprint we now want to move this onto the next stage. Support will be available from our appointed external consultant.
Key outcomes will be an embedded, automated process for reporting carbon use at business and Group level and also meeting the needs of clients of the Group for this information where you will collaborate with teams across IT, Finance and H&S. Working with the stakeholders in the business to document carbon reduction initiatives, agree targets and timeframes and assist them with understanding and communicating progress across the Group. Support the production of progress updates to Boards and the quarterly Group Services meetings. Working with our external consultant to ensure that we are compliant with regulations as required.
Whilst we are proud of offering an agile working environment, our Head Offices for our three companies are in Chasetown, Staffordshire where you will be expected to travel to or work from on occasion. Travel to the Group’s sites will be required from time to time, as will visits to external organisations which are relevant to your role.
