Wear Referrals is a multi-disciplinary, specialist veterinary referral hospital just off Junction 60 of the A1 in the north east of England with services in neurology, orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, anaesthesia, oncology, diagnostic imaging and cardiology as well as an out-of- hours emergency service and in-house rehabilitation team.
With ongoing growth and success based on an outstanding reputation and a commitment to clinical excellence, Wear Referrals, part of the Linnaeus family, are looking to recruit a board-certified or board-eligible small animal surgeon to work with a growing team of surgeons and other specialists.
Our hospital facilities include a dedicated ICU staffed 24 hours a day, spacious well-designed wards with many walk-in kennels, in-house 1.5T Siemens Magnetom Essenza MRI, 16 slice Siemens Somatom Emotion helical CT, digital radiography, digital fluoroscopy and a Samsung RS85 ultrasound system.
The successful applicant will join an existing team of diplomates, with support from a large discipline specific surgical nursing team. Caseload will be predominantly orthopaedic, with some soft tissue cases. Our orthopaedic service is extensively equipped to offer BioMedtrix nano /micro / cemented / cementless total hip, TATE elbow replacement, total knee replacement and ankle replacement, iLOC interlocking nail, linear /circular IMEX external skeletal fixation, Synthes internal fixation, Arthrex UHD arthroscopy, custom 3D printed implant design and surgical guides etc.
We encourage an evidence-based multi-disciplinary approach, supporting a process of continuous learning and a collegiate atmosphere. We have an active internship programme and are expanding our residency programmes. Our extensive clinical caseload will provide an interesting variety of cases and clinical research is actively encouraged and supported. Applicants must be highly motivated, proactive and passionate about delivering clinical excellence, with excellent social and clinical skills. This is ideally a full-time role, though applications are welcomed from both part time and full-time applicants.
