The job itself
20-year-old young man living in a village between Beverley and Driffield requires recruitment of several carers.
Full time and part time hours available across 7 days per week – please specify on application form availability and hours applying for.
Young man has a rare form of down syndrome.
Young man enjoys activities such as cinema, trampolining, music and dancing and generally has a thirst and love for life. Young man is very active.
The role involves personal care with regards to toilet needs. Candidates are to be vigilant and provide constant supervision, guidance, encouragement and support to young man in everyday tasks to ensure personal hygiene and appropriate dressing for activities and weather is maintained. Extra Vigilance to ensure safety of young man in the everyday daily tasks and activities.
Applicants need to be flexible, honest, hardworking and caring. We are seeking care workers who are sensitive to and able to positively manage and respond to the needs of youngman. The candidate must be able to be sensitive to the needs of the individual, promoting privacy and dignity. The successful applicant will have an understanding nature and be supportive and patient with the ability to manage situations and vulnerabilities.
The candidate should be enthusiastic, resourceful, and proactive and have a good sense of humour. Effective communication is essential therefore the candidate must be thoughtful and considerate in their communication and actions. Candidates must be able to motivate, encourage and be influential if needed to support Youngman with developing his independence, living and life skills.
It is essential that the candidate has a genuine interest in building and maintaining a positive relationship, providing care and support and engaging in activities that are of interest and meaningful for Youngman.
A reliable and committed person is required for this role. Experience of working with children and young people with learning disabilities is essential.
A car driver with own vehicle and business use is essential.
Training will be provided that is relevant and required for the role.
