Complex Support Worker - DRIVER ONLY -ZK

We are recruiting for driving Complex Support Workers to take our service users into the community 3 days per week, 6 hours per day. These shifts could be both during the week and weekend so we require a flexible candidate.
Core elements:
We are recruiting for a complex care supported living service for individuals severe learning disabilities, global developmental delay, visual impairments and autistic spectrum condition. Desired knowledge, skills and experience include:
- Supporting service users to engage with activities of daily living (e.g., cooking and cleaning), home activity planning, and community access (e.g. shopping, swimming, local disco, pubs, etc)
- Working within the positive behaviour support framework and in accordance with agreed support plans and risk assessments to proactively prevent behaviour incidents, including use of de-escalation techniques to avoid behavioural crisis incidents.
- Use of autism-friendly approaches, including effective verbal communication, visual aids (e.g. symbols, schedules, traffic lights, social stories, etc), intensive interaction, and integrating a sensory diet within a person’s daily life
- Completing accurate and detailed daily documentation of care and support provided, e.g., activities, mood, significant events, behaviour incidents, etc.
- Working with the families of our service users, communicating regularly, and maintaining positive working relationships.
How to support me:
- I enjoy visiting restaurants but sometimes has difficulty waiting long times. I need support eating at a correct pace and drinking lots of water to support my health. I am able to make myself hot drinks and basic snacks with supervision and prefer to only have two choices of food or drink at a time.
- I really enjoy showering, but sometimes need prompts and directions to clean properly and dry properly afterwards. I also can dress myself and brush my teeth independently, but need prompts and support to make sure I do this correctly. I also need guidance on dressing correctly for the weather.
- I love going out and about in my car, my favourite places to visit are ice cream parks, theme parks (I am fearless towards rides) and Mcdonalds. (My favourite order is filet o fish and a McFlurry).
- I require support from three staff members 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I relax a variety of different ways, including holding or spinning my favourite teddy bear, spending time in my garden, trampolining, sunbathing, and watching YouTube videos such as log burners, fire engines, etc.
- I am non-verbal and communicate through signing, gestures, facial expression, body language and vocalisation. My signs are a combination of Makaton and my own variation of signs. It is important you would be willing to work towards or have an understanding of Makaton.
You will:
- Due to the needs of the service user, we are recruiting for male candidates only. Females will be considered if they have lots of the required experience.
- Have experience and knowledge of severe learning disabilities, global developmental delay, visual impairments and autistic spectrum condition.
Liberty Complex Support Pay Banding:
- £10 per hour – willing to work towards care certificate standards, 0-1 years’ experience of working with people with learning disabilities, autism, challenging behaviour, etc.
- £11 per hour – NVQ Level 2 or equivalent – or willing to work towards this. Care Certificate Standards completed, and 2 years’ experience of working with people with learning disabilities, autism, challenging behaviour, etc.
- £12 per hour – NVQ Level 3 or equivalent – or willing to work towards this. Care Certificate Standards completed and 3 years’ experience of working with people with learning disabilities, autism, challenging behaviour, etc. Completed or willing to complete adult safeguarding level 3 training.
- ALL of these pay bandings are subject to a candidates experience and skill. If you are between two bandings these can be altered.
