We are looking for a kind and compassionate support worker to join our outstanding Children's care home, located in Gloucester. You do not need prior experience to apply, we provide week long industry leading training in-person.

Within Reach specializes in providing support and homely care for young people and children who have complex needs. We are registered with Ofsted as a children’s care home provider and with CQC (rated GOOD) to deliver personal care.

As a support worker, you must be willing to go above and beyond for the needs of the children and young people (aged 15-23), showing kindness and compassion. You will work closely with a fantastic team who are delivering care and support to young people in a warm and homely environment.

What is job progression and training like?

We actively support your job progression through paid study time and support to complete the Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care. One of our team members, Tara, joined Within Reach as a support worker about a year ago, having worked in the same industry for many years before. She has really made an impact progressing to team leader and really enjoying her role, she hopes to progress to become a Deputy Manager soon. “The management team are very supportive, recognising people’s achievements and hard work, they recognise you as a person.” - Tara

What would be a typical day ?

You would be supporting young people usually aged between 15 – 23, you’ll always be working in at least a team of two. You would be helping them to attend any educational or recreational activities during the day and helping them keep their home clean, helping them to prepare meals and supporting them out on activities such as visiting the cinema or a trip to the spa.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience is not required as you will receive all the training needed
  • We are looking for enthusiastic staff who have a passion for working with young people and would like to develop and nurture their life experiences.

Details:

  • Driving licence is preferable but not essential
  • We can arrange a start date that’s convenient for you
  • Overtime is available (if you want it)
  • There is shift work with a day or night position available, days are 7am-3pm / 3pm-10pm and nights are 10pm-7am
  • You can choose to either work on a bank contract (where you pick up the number of shifts that suit your personal circumstances) or we have permanent contracts starting at 16 hours per week up to 40 hours per week.
