Job description
We are looking to recruit Support Workers who will provide care and support to people with a learning disability to enable them to live a full and meaningful life within the community.
The main duties of the position are:-
- Providing encouragement, help, guidance to the tenants so they participate in social and recreational activities
- Provide personal care
- Support the tenant in managing their finances
- Assist with cooking and menu choices and clothes shopping
- Encourage tenants to become as independent as possible in their daily lives e.g. manage own medication (where appropriate), plan activities and ensuring personal and domestic hygiene
Educational attainments / skills / experience required for the position are:-
- NVQ 2 in Care & a willingness to work towards QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care
- Experience of working in care/support setting
- Experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities
- Understanding of the principles that underpin a quality care environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Ensuring that the tenant’s rights and dignity are respected at all times
