We are looking to recruit Support Workers who will provide care and support to people with a learning disability to enable them to live a full and meaningful life within the community.

The main duties of the position are:-

• Providing encouragement, help, guidance to the tenants so they participate in social and recreational activities
• Provide personal care
• Support the tenant in managing their finances
• Assist with cooking and menu choices and clothes shopping
• Encourage tenants to become as independent as possible in their daily lives e.g. manage own medication (where appropriate), plan activities and ensuring personal and domestic hygiene

Educational attainments / skills / experience required for the position are:-

• NVQ 2 in Care & a willingness to work towards QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care
• Experience of working in care/support setting
• Experience of working with individuals with learning disabilities
• Understanding of the principles that underpin a quality care environment
• Excellent communication skills
• Ensuring that the tenant’s rights and dignity are respected at all times

Thorough pre-employment screening is undertaken during the recruitment process. The postholder will be required to complete an application for a Disclosure of Criminal Records.
