Support Worker (Flexible Hours)

Support Worker (Flexible Hours) Wrexham, Wales

MacIntyre Charity
Full Time Wrexham, Wales 10.9 GBP HOURLY Today
Job description

Are you looking for a Support Worker job with FLEXIBLE HOURS where no experience is required as we will provide you with all necessary training?

We are seeking a Relief Support Worker to join our team in Wrexham. You would be supporting two people, between the ages of 20 to 40, to try and live independent lives.

How Relief hours work

It's a bit like a zero-hour contract but without the bad bits.

  • You don't have to work when it's not convenient for you.
  • Receive the same training towards professional qualifications as permanent staff.
  • We offer these contracts not because it suits us but because it suits you.
  • With over 95% of our staff are on permanent contracts you will be supported to apply for one when its right for you.
  • Job security and career development

The Relief (Bank) post supports the permanent rota staff by completing shifts that are vacant due to annual leave, training and other staff absences. As such, hours are non-specific, but your manager will endeavour to balance the needs of the service against your own work/life balance as appropriately as possible.

We normally plan the rotas one month in advance, but additional opportunities also come up due to unexpected staff absences.

Intrigued to know more?

Here are some of the key things they are looking for from a Support Worker:

  • Someone who can support me to make a good cup of tea!
  • We both like to tell jokes and have a great sense of humour
  • I need people that are fun and like a joke, that are not easily offended if I swear or call them names
  • Someone who will support me to become more independent – supporting me to do things, not do them for me... even if it takes a long time.
  • Someone that can stay positive even when I do not want to do much or go out.
  • I want someone that talks to me and treats me like an adult and who knows when to stop talking... maybe when I become anxious
  • Someone to take me to the pub... but it might not be their choice of pub!
  • Someone to take me for walks, horse riding and cycling because we like to keep fit and explore new places
  • Someone to take us shopping, to discos and visits with family.
  • When we stay at home we like music and TV - especially Victor Meldrew and Mrs Browns Boys! We also really like cooking, especially curries.
  • Someone to support me to use my iPad and to watch YouTube and Disney videos with me .
  • We need a person who can bring new ideas on things we might like to do

As a Support Worker, you will work in a team of approximately six staff and will receive full training on how to do the job effectively. We will support you through a 6 month induction process, which includes a personal development plan, registering with Care in Wales and, after 1 year of service, we will support you to complete your NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care if you are not already qualified.
