Job description
This is a really exciting time for you to join us as we've just merged with fellow charity Community Integrated Care on 1st August 2023. We have been supporting adults with learning disabilities in Aberdeen since the organisation was first established almost 35 years ago, and today we operate a range of services within the city.
We currently have vacancies for Support Workers, 20-39 hours per week on permanent or fixed term basis, within our Hillview service - in the Cults area of the city where we have support people to live independently in their own home.
Could This Be The Job For You?
This service is currently home to one lady and two gentlemen with additional support needs. They have a broad range of interests including arts and crafts, performing, day trips to the theatre or bowling and drives in their car.
No two days at this service are truly ever the same!
One day you might be helping someone with cooking a meal, cleaning their room or budgeting their money and the next you could be accompanying them to an appointment or activity session or to get the weekly shopping. You may also be required to help with the administration of medication or help to maintain people’s dignity through the provision of quality personal care, depending on individual needs.
Although our work can be challenging it is also immensely rewarding as Support Workers play a vital role in developing and maintaining the important life skills and encouraging the participation and integration required for the people we support to flourish and get the best out of life.
What’s In It For You?
You don’t need to have any previous experience in social care to apply – we are more interested in your values and transferable skills. We will ensure you go through a comprehensive induction and training programme before your first shift and support you to achieve a funded SVQ 3 in Health & Social Care (SCQF level 7) qualification. If you do have previous care experience then we can help you to continue to build your career in the sector.
There are plenty of other benefits that come with working for Community Integrated Care as well – apart from getting to know and spending lots of time with the people we support at the service.
Community Integrated Care Support Workers and Bank Support Workers receive £11.40 an hour, there is a competitive sick pay entitlement, generous life assurance policy, company pension contribution, the option to buy annual leave and a £150 Refer a Friend scheme.
What Are You Waiting For?
If you have a caring nature, and are respectful, compassionate, nurturing and inclusive, then we would love you to join our small, established team at this service and help us continue supporting those who call the service home to live fulfilled and happy lives.
