Thames Reach runs projects and services that help to end homelessness in London. We work directly with homeless people on the streets and in hostels. We work to prevent vulnerable people from becoming homeless. We help formerly homeless people get their lives back on track. We help people find work and access training and volunteering opportunities.

About this role…
We are looking for a Support Worker to join the City Inn Assessment Service team.
Thames Reach’s hostels are transitional spaces where a 24 hour staff team support people to move in, assess their needs, and quickly identify the best place for them to move on to next. Skilled staff teams develop a personalised support plan to ensure people are ready for their move on and have holistic support with their mental and physical health, substance misuse needs, criminal justice issues and life skills.

You will:
- Contribute to Thames Reach achieving the highest standards and effectiveness in service delivery to service users within an operating environment which is complex and changing.
- Contribute to the implementation of the team’s aims and objectives, work plans, operational policies, and procedures in such a way that they contribute to the mission of Thames Reach and deliver on business plan objectives.
- Support all activities within the team effectively and maintain Thames Reach standards in relation to service users/internal customers and other stakeholders alike.
- Support and encourage clients to make positive changes to their lives.
- Ensure the environment is safe, healthy, and reflective of our ethos and supports our client’s aims.
- Have some knowledge and/or experience of working with homeless or vulnerable people with various support needs, however, we will consider career changers or graduates with transferable knowledge and skills.
To succeed as the Support Worker, you will have
- Excellent at communicating and problem solving
- Confident in your ability to support clients
- Competent at using a computer and a range of software packages
- Committed to developing your knowledge and skills
- Responsive and flexible to the needs of the team and the clients
- Have a commitment to supporting people to achieve the best outcomes as they work towards independence
