As a Support Worker what does the role entail:
Your day will consist of …
- To complete sign-ups with service users commencing the service, including full induction and application for Housing Benefit.
- Support service users to effectively manage their rent accounts, ensuring that housing benefit entitlement is secured.
- Be responsible for conducting weekly accommodation checks with service users and reporting and managing repairs to the accommodation.
- Support service users to develop understanding of their rights and responsibilities in a Tenancy and develop skills to effectively manage their accommodation.
- Monitor and update application process to ensure that applicants and service users are informed about the service and their responsibilities for the accommodation.
- Ensure that House Rules are maintained and in the event of serious anti-social behaviour the appropriate agencies are contacted.
- Maintaining comprehensive records of housing applicants, residents, former residents and properties, ensuring the information is accurate, up to date and relevant.
- Provide a holistic approach, supporting service users to better manage and improve their situation and to develop the confidence and skills to maintain independent living.
This job is for you, if…
- You have experience working within a Supported Housing Setting (desirable but not essential)
- You have a good standard of education to G.C.S.E level or equivalent, with grade C or above – or equivalent in Mathematics and English.
- Fully I.T literate in all Microsoft Packages
- You have good communication skills both written and verbal.
- You have a calm personable nature and find appropriate resolutions when handling conflict or difficult issues.
- You are a resilient and confident team worker who can work on their own initiative or work as part of a team.
- You can work unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends.
Successful applicants will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS Disclosure.
