Job description
Job Introduction
Pendlebury House is part of Turning Point, a leading Health and Social Care Organization and a Registered Charity. We are located in a community setting in Swinton, Manchester.
Pendlebury House is an independent hospital, offering packages of rehabilitation to informal and detained service users under the Mental Health Act (MHA). Treatment and care is provided to 10 patients (male and female) who experience severe and enduring mental health needs. We aspire to work in true partnership with our SU’s. We encourage everyone to reach their full potential, whilst working towards personal recovery goals. Ultimately our aim is to reintroduce and maintain daily living skills alongside the psychosocial interventions necessary to equip people to live more independently in the community.
Role Responsibility
Working alongside qualified nurses, occupational therapists, assistant psychologist and art therapist as a Support Worker, you will develop good working relationships with each of the service users, in order to recognize individual indicators of mental ill health and to have the skills to help the patients to develop appropriate coping strategies.
A large part of your role will be to implement planned interventions, promoting independence, well–being and healthy life choices. You will also be involved in a range of activities, supporting the service users with daily living skills following recovery programs and activity programs that will help our patients to develop the important skills they need to progress through their individual recovery pathway.
The Ideal Candidate
We are now looking for a committed and enthusiastic Support worker to join our team.
Heath and social care experience or qualification would be desirable. You must be an excellent communicator and possess good people skills. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting people with a mental health problem.
Being a Support Worker in a hospital setting involves working 37 hours per week and a shift pattern across three different shifts (early, late, nights) including working weekends and bank holidays.
