Job description
The Role
The Berkshire West Breathing Space is a service providing a safe, welcoming and compassionate space for people who are experiencing mental health distress.
Based in Reading City Centre the Breathing Space offers a variety of support options dependent on people’s needs: for some it is a place of quiet respite, for others an opportunity to meet like-minded people and share lived experience. It provides an opportunity for people to develop their coping techniques, and link people in with other services in their local community.
Delivered by Together for Mental Wellbeing, one of the UK’s oldest and most respected charities, the service is open between 5pm and 11pm on Mondays to Sundays.
We are looking to enhance our existing Team with two new Support Workers (also known as Wellbeing Workers) to drive the service forward during this exciting expansion period. We are looking for people who share the organisation’s values and truly care about improving the lives of others so that people experiencing mental distress can lead the lives that they choose.
The Support Worker role is a crucial role for the service. Workers will welcome people into the service, they will help clients to devise plans to keep themselves safe, work on coping techniques, identify personal goals and will be able to connect people to resources in their local area.
There are two part time roles available, one for 22.5 hours and one for 30 hours. Experience of working in the mental health sector is desirable but full training will be provided through induction and on an ongoing basis.
