Job description
Why not start a rewarding new career in social care? No experience necessary: we'll train you.
You will provide invaluable support to eleven adults with learning disabilities who live in their own house in Streatham. The house has a warm, fun, happy atmosphere and there is always lots going. The house has a big garden which is about to undergo a facelift. We are looking to plant flowers, grow veg, add comfortable garden furniture, a swing, paint the big fence in bright colours or add a collage to represent the people who live at here.
So what will you be doing?
You'll be assisting with a wide range of activities from everyday living needs and 'must dos' (such as cooking and cleaning, shopping and baking and general house maintenance), through to the lighter side of life becoming involved with their hobbies and interests.
David* and Ryan* are keen football fans and supporters of Aston Villa and Wimbledon. They are not just armchair fans, along with the others in the house they enjoy going to the park to kick a football around. Stephen's* passion is snooker and he is an excellent player. He has his tickets booked for a live tournament which we will be supporting him to attend.
When you are baking you are sure to get a visit from John*, he loves to lick the mixture off the spoon.
Music with a good beat plays a big part in creating the atmosphere in the house. If you enjoy showing off your dance skills you'll be a great hit. We also have some fans of live music who love to attend concerts.
As you've probably worked out the people we support are full of life and fun to be with, could you support them to lead lives that make sense to them?
Shifts are worked on a rota basis which may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins. Full-time hours are 37.5 hours per week, but we can also offer part-time and relief hours to fit around other commitments.
