Why this role matters
You will be responsible for specifying, building, securing and supporting environments that enable subscriber services to function within a mobile phone cloud core network. You will have both the technical skills and proven experience to support the following areas:
- Canonical Open Stack expertise and associated services
- System Administration in a Linux environment
- Good knowledge of Security Vulnerabilities across the IT industry and experience of Security Hardening strategy and practice.
- Driving best practice in Data Security concepts and protection systems.
- K8 cluster design and deployment

Key responsibilities
Primary
Primary
- Understanding the infrastructure requirements of CNF/VNF during cloud adoption process.
- Design and build K8S & K8S-based (eg CCD) cluster architecture, including tenant-specific Openstack & SDN components
- Support containerised layer of tenant CNF including K8S & its features such as Load Balancing (ECFE for CCD), Docker components, Network plugins & CNI’s etc
- Triage faults on tenant NFVi layer, involving tenant-specific SDN & Openstack configuration, which may involve further investigation into Network Cloud supported infrastructure
- Act as support resource to tenant teams for application onboarding & instantiation tasks (eg troubleshoot the deployment of heat templates, performing health checks at K8S layer)
- Supplier Management- Ensure that all cases escalated to support vendors are resolved within the appropriate time scales. Provide assistance to suppliers when required.
- Ensure tenant infrastructure architecture and design documentation are kept up to date.
- Mentor junior team members.
- Work with the other teams to develop, configure and maintain the infrastructure management solutions and tools required to manage all data services. Participate in all appropriate project forums.
- Provide support to various stakeholders such as Technology Operations Centre, Design, Build, Network Cloud and Dynamic Infrastructure, Capacity Planning, revenue Assurance and Customer Experience.

- Troubleshoot Network flows & connectivity between K8S cluster nodes
- Troubleshoot Network flows & connectivity for storage relates issues.
- Support troubleshooting of any integration issues at the Openstack/K8 level
- Experience working on Cloud storage solution
Skills required
Mandatory
- Expert understanding of Openstack environments
- Excellent working knowledge of Nova, Swift,Cinder,Neutron, Horizon,Keystone, Glance and Cellometer
- Excellent understanding of containerisation technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience of Open Stack in a telco cloud environment using SDN
- Good understanding of Linux
- Exposure to Virtualisation technologies (e.g. KVM or ESXi)
- Openstack vendor led training accreditation.
- Experience working on Cloud environents (ideally Private Cloud)
Preferred
- Use of OSS tools to support performance related issues (e.g. Prometheus & Grafana)
- Experience in scripting and markup languages (e.g.Bash, Python, Perl, YAML)
- Experience with Integrate Servers with Centralised syslog management tools
- Experience with the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash & Kibana)
- Use of git based repositories
- Receiving Security scan report results and Implementing highlighted patches using change management.
- Ensuring patches/changes have been tested (nonproduction and by vendor).
- Keeping audit of teams hardware and licencing details
- Experience of troubleshooting complex design /integeration issues during tenanat on-boarding
