Job Title:
Support Worker
Location: St Michaels House, Welwyn Garden City
Salary: £22,460 (£11.64 an hour) with the opportunity to progress to a maximum of £23,711 (12.29 an hour)*
Hours: Full Time, Part Time hours available
Contract: Permanent

  • Salary inclusive of enhancement for working 20% of time at the weekend. Sleep In allowances are paid at £40 per night. Waking Night Support Workers receive time and a third. There are opportunities to work additional hours and overtime across the Service.

Who we are:

Our short breaks service supports adults with various disabilities, some have learning or physical disabilities and need high levels of physical care, others can meet their own day to day needs but may have, mental ill-health or just a need for support to get through their everyday lives. Whilst with us, people rely on you to support them to enjoy their time away from home while their carers have a well-deserved break.

What you’ll do:

  • Meeting their basic daily needs and achieve their goals
  • Personal hygiene, eating and drinking
  • Managing their money
  • Taking their medication
  • Attending health appointments
  • Joining in with social and leisure activities at home and in their local community

What you need:

Our service needs you to support people with personal care, in some cases, this involves using moving and handling equipment and you would need to be physically able to manage this type of work.

Our roles involve shift work, including weekends and bank holidays, and sleep ins are required, for which you’ll receive an additional payment.

You don’t have to have experience or qualifications for this role – we will support you with all the training you need, including the Care Certificate and RQF award.

You just need the right values and a willingness to learn.
