Job description
- Lives independently in an annex next door to his mum and stepfather, he has a brother and sister who do not live at home. You would be joining a large team, working one a 121 basis.
- Has Level 4 GMFCS cerebral palsy and is a full-time wheelchair user so requires support for all activities of daily living. He is non-verbal but is able to communicate on a high level through the use of aids such as Eye Gaze. T is peg fed so you would need to prepare his food and assist him at mealtimes. T attends hydrotherapy and you would be required to accompany T and his physiotherapist in the pool, you will be accompanied by another social work at this time.
- The role will also involve supporting T with his personal care, washing and dressing, planning and shopping for meals as well as some light housework and assisting with laundry.
- Is a very keen Boccia player and trains four times a week including weekends away training or competing, he loves to attend Reading FC home games, outings to the local pub with his friends and play computer games and you would drive him to these venues.
- Has a hydrotherapy pool which he uses 3-4 times a week and you would be trained to support him with relaxation and hydrotherapy sessions in the water, alongside another member of staff.
- There is flexibility for this to be a live-in or live-out role, accommodation and meals are available during shifts worked. Rest times would be taken whilst T is at Boccia training (although you would be on call if required) and in the evening whilst T relaxes.
- Is an animal lover and lives with a very gentle Labrador, three cats and some chickens, so someone who is comfortable around animals with no allergies is a must for this role.
- It is essential that you have a full UK driving license and are over the age of 21, you will be required to drive our client’s adapted VW Caravelle. If you do not have your own vehicle, you should be able to get yourself to and from our client’s home bearing in mind that there is a limited bus service, and the train station is a 25-minute walk away from his home.
- You will be a swimmer as you will accompany T along with another member of staff to his hydrotherapy sessions and will be required to get into the pool with him.
- You will be kind, positive, reliable, and able to build a relationship of trust with our client and family.
- £14 per hour on Weekdays.
- £16 per hour Weekends / Bank Holiday.
- 09:00 to 23:00 Monday to Wednesday.
- 09:00 to 17:00 Thursday.
