Birches Homes is a 24hour male unit semi-independent living service that looks after and supports young people age 16+. We are looking to recruit experienced and enthusiastic Support / key Workers to join our service to support the transition of young people who have a variety of needs including complex and challenging behaviours on their journey towards independence. The post holder will need to have good attention to detail and an understanding of the needs of care leavers, sound knowledge of 'safeguarding’ and relevant legislations. You’re expected at times to work alone but enjoys being part of a team.
Main Responsibilities Include:
- Provide social and emotional support to our young people.
- To assist in the effective management and administration of the home.
- Accompany young people to access various appointments, educational needs and leisure activities.
- Focus on developing daily life skills such as cooking, budgeting, Laundry, cleaning, shopping, etc.
- Monitor and support the health and safety of young people.
- Ensure that your actions directly support the care, protection, and well-being of our young persons.
- Maintain confidentiality of young people and report welfare concerns.
- Ability to write daily reports and record and maintain accurate information to a high standard.
- Fulfil other reasonable duties relevant to the scope of this post to support and safeguard young people.
Qualifications & Job Requirements:
Essential:
- Good general education.
- 1 year experience working with care leavers / support environment / social care setting.
- RQF Level 2 or above in social care or
- Diploma/NVQ Level 2/3 Children
- Enhanced DBS check
- The right to work in the UK.
- Flexibility to work weekends and provide cover as required.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
Essential:
- Good IT skills with knowledge of Word and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Knowledge and commitment regarding Equal Opportunities
- Knowledge of the regulatory frameworks
- Ability to form positive working relationships with young people within boundaries.
- Ability to support young people with a range of needs.
- Commitment to the aims and objectives of BHL.
- A commitment to undertake training and development.

Shifts Working Schedule:
- Monday - Sunday Flexible Shift pattern on a rota basis
- Inclusive of Night shift / Overnight shift / Waking Nights

Vacancy Location: London SE28
Pay Rate: £10.85 - £12.00 per hour (dependant on experience and qualifications).
