We are recruiting for a Support Worker who to support men and women after release from Custody whilst on supervision license or serving community sentences, Based in Lewisham and Croydon.

THE ROLE

The purpose of the Activity Hubs is to assist participants not to re-offend, alongside the key aim of European Social Fund (ESF) to move individuals closer to the labour market. The Hubs will provide safe and supportive spaces, offering a range of interventions and activities that aim to engage harder to reach individuals, particularly those who face multiple barriers to employment and would benefit from further provision accessed on a voluntary basis.

As a Support Worker you will develop a comprehensive action plan, facilitate structured one-to-one sessions and group sessions, and be responsible for the thorough case management of service users on your caseload.

In addition to this, you will:

  • Manage your caseload and the case management database
  • Help individuals to address logistical barriers preventing them from engaging with mainstream provision; Developing their life-skills; enhancing their employability; fostering a sense of self-worth; building up their personal resilience; and engaging them in community support networks
  • Make service users more receptive to engaging with professionals
  • Ensure service users are more open to referrals to support outside of the Hub environment;
  • Reinforce the value of leading law-abiding lives
  • Engage and assess service users and work collaboratively to establish an action plan which identifies needs, aspirations, barriers and solutions.
  • Deliver one-to-one and group interventions, sustaining engagement by providing a positive experience for the service user.
  • Accurate and timely recording and updating of CATs+ computerised system required for programme delivery.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful a Support Worker you will need the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with staff in referral organisations and the National Probation Service, including Outreach into Local Probation Offices. You will also need the ability to work within an offender focused setting and to be able to develop excellent working relationships with service users and other partner agencies.

You will work with Offender Managers to regularly review service user risk management strategies in place to support safety and rehabilitation so you will need excellent communication skills.
