Support Work Wrexham, Wales

MacIntyre
Full Time Wrexham, Wales 21312 - 21703 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Is your career in care as rewarding as it could be? Are you frustrated with unrealistic schedules that leave no time for the people you support?

Why not join MacIntyre? You will work with the same people regularly and have the opportunity to build long term life changing relationships.

You’ll join our friendly team in Wrexham as a Full-time Support Worker supporting two people, between the ages of 20 to 40, to try and live independent lives. In addition to your annual salary, you’ll have the opportunity to work sleep-ins* at £65 per night. You'll also have the pleasure of receiving the Blue Light discount card and making savings at the checkout, along with other benefits detailed below.

Your ability to drive unlocks the opportunities for people to do the things they really enjoy. So you must be a driver with a manual license. Don't worry! You won't be racing between appointments.

Here are some of the key things they are looking for from a Support Worker:

  • Someone who can support me to make a good cup of tea!
  • We both like to tell jokes and have a great sense of humour
  • I need people that are fun and like a joke, that are not easily offended if I swear or call them names
  • Someone who will support me to become more independent – supporting me to do things, not do them for me... even if it takes a long time.
  • Someone that can stay positive even when I do not want to do much or go out.
  • I want someone that talks to me and treats me like an adult and who knows when to stop talking... maybe when I become anxious
  • Someone to take me to the pub... but it might not be their choice of pub!
  • Someone to take me for walks, horse riding and cycling because we like to keep fit and explore new places
  • Someone to take us shopping, to discos and visits with family.
  • When we stay at home we like music and TV - especially Victor Meldrew and Mrs Browns Boys! We also really like cooking, especially curries.
  • Someone to support me to use my iPad and to watch YouTube and Disney videos with me .
  • We need a person who can bring new ideas on things we might like to do.

You will be welcomed by an experienced team who will provide plenty of support and advice if you need it.

You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins. We will always try and accommodate your needs based on family or personal commitments.

Check our local Facebook page to get a feel of what we do: https://www.facebook.com/MacIntyreWrexham

*If you’re not familiar with it, for a sleep-in shift, you sleep at the person’s home overnight in the spare room, ready to wake up and provide support if someone is restless. In the Wrexham area, we pay £65 per sleep-in.
