The Role
Powersoft are looking for a new person to join their support/development team. The person will be Involved with front line support dealing with customers and helping them to resolve their problems. They will also be involved in development and maintenance. Full training will be given in Powerbuilder and the other programming languages and development tools used. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced support technician to further develop their skills into software development.
Powersoft has a number of applications and products that we support, these are:
- Mainstay Professional – A Hotel Property Management System with integrated web bookings and channel management.
- Sage 50 Sales Order Processing – This is an add-on to the Sage 50 Accounting system
- Bespoke systems developed in PowerBuilder that integrate with Sage Accounts.
- Customer owned PowerBuilder applications – This involves technical support for the PowerBuilder development language.
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to users.
- Perform upgrades and repairs of defective software.
- Document the status and results of faulty software systems.
- Initiate communication with customers about repairs or replacement needs.
- Diagnose and repair software problems.
The Person
The ideal person for this role will be someone educated to at least A-Level standard. With existing experience in customer support, but not necessarily in computer software. They will have good communication skills and will be looking to develop their career in software support, whilst developing their programming skills. They will be able to work on their own and use initiative when necessary, whilst being supported as part of a small team.
Must Have Experience and Qualifications
- GCSEs – English, Maths and Sciences at Level 4 or above (or equivalent)
- A-Levels – Any of the following: Maths, Sciences, Technical/Engineering or Computing (or equivalent).
- Experience of working in a customer service role, dealing with the public either face to face or over the phone (Must be able to communicate).
- Microsoft Office Products – Must have a working knowledge of Outlook, Word & Excel
Desirable Experience & Skills
- Knowledge of Sage 50 Accounts or other accounting software
- Knowledge of the Hotel & Hospitality industry sectors
- Elementary software development skills
- Knowledge of SQL Databases
Location
Initially the role will be office based at our offices in Horsham during the training period, but may extend to a hybrid working arrangement between Home and Office in the future.
