An opportunity has arisen at the Oxford Centre for Immuno Oncology (OxCIO) to be part of a successful team in the role of Laboratory Support Technician, based at the Old Road Campus in Headington, Oxford.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated individual who has experience in a relevant scientific environment, has previously maintained laboratory equipment and is aware and knowledgeable of the Health and Safety requirements involved in scientific research. By working with academics at Oxford and across the UK this post will be critical in supporting cutting-edge and innovative research that delivers both scientific and clinical impact.
You will be responsible for maintaining and managing stocks of chemicals, laboratory reagents, and consumables for the whole Institute. You will prepare general-use buffers, bacterial growth media, and agar plates according to Standard Operating Procedures and order goods and services using Oracle R12. You will also communicate with goods-in, members of the department, organise and distribute incoming goods to their respective users and assist staff in the shipping of samples to collaborators.
It is essential that you are educated to at least A-level or equivalent in a scientific subject, together with holding recent experience of working in a laboratory environment, ideally in a laboratory support role. Successful candidates should also be able to demonstrate knowledge of health and safety regulations. You will have strong attention to detail with good organizational and IT skills including a knowledge of Word, Excel (i.e., data basing) and PowerPoint programs. You will also have the ability to organise your own workload and take initiative as appropriate.
