Estio Training has an exciting new opportunity for an IT Support Technician with Copia Digital, a digital agency based in Rochester, Kent.
Job Description:
This entry-level position is ideal for someone who is more interested in working behind the scenes on the infrastructure that runs our client’s websites and internal systems our team uses on a daily basis. Some aspects of the role will be client-facing: training will be provided on effective communication to non-technical individuals. A desire to learn supporting communication skills is essential, even though the focus of this role is working with systems.
This role will broadly cover two areas of focus
- Internal IT systems: working closely with our Technical Director, you will help manage and run Copia’s internal IT systems and support internal team members with IT issues.
- Client infrastructure: working closely with our Head of Production and Infrastructure Engineering and Support team you will help configure, implement, maintain and document the underlying infrastructure that our clients’ sites run on.
Please note, in order to get the most out of your apprenticeship and maximise contact with highly experienced team members, this is a full time on-site position based at our Rochester office.
Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:
- General IT support for team members.
- Helping keep out internal policies and documentation up-to-date.
- Onboarding new team members.
- Second line support on our client-facing support helpdesk for all IT-related issues.
- Client cloud infrastructure setup and configuration.
- Assisting with DNS changes.
- Server migrations and upgrades.
- Website deployments, upgrades and security patching.
- Helping with incident response, diagnosis and mitigation.
- Auditing infrastructure, reducing costs.
- Scripting and automation.
Qualifications:
- Required: 5 or more GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 (or equivalent) – must include English Language and Maths.
- Desirable: at least one GCSE grade A*-C/9-4 (or equivalent) in one of the following: Computer Science, Business Studies or Engineering.
Skills & Qualities Required:
- Methodical problem solver.
- Analytical thinking skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Basic understanding of how the internet works.
- An innate desire to understand how things work.
- Highly organised note taker, you will be learning a lot.
- An interest in anything IT/engineering related.

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Information Communications Technician, with training in how to:
- Efficiently operate and control your ICT infrastructure – physical or virtual hardware, software, network services and data storage.
- Use infrastructure management tools to automate the provisioning, testing, deployment and monitoring of infrastructure components.
- Prioritise systems support tasks and monitor and maintaining system performance
- Maintain regulatory, legal and professional standards.
- Support the information systems needs for your business.
