Job description
Under direct supervision, the successful candidate will work in the central mail room of the Office of Technology located on the main capital complex. The candidate will work 7:30am – 3:30pm, Monday through Friday but may include working an adjusted schedule on an as needed basis. The duties include but are not limited to: performs entry to intermediate level work in operating mailing and shipping machines (Pitney Bowes). Such operations include processing outgoing letters and packages for agencies and ensuring accurate chargeback for postage; determine accurate indicia, weight, class, and carrier. Process and distribute all incoming mail from agencies. Deliver and pick up mail for various agencies on/off the main capital complex. Sort and distribute all USPS incoming mail. Track and audit all incoming and outgoing certified mail. X-ray all mail (letters & packages) intended for the Governor’s office. Scan hazardous or malicious content. Open Governor’s mail with biological cabinet. Performing routine maintenance and cleaning tasks such as ink and sealant refills and cleaning equipment areas. Must be able to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, vendors, and all state employees. Must be able to lift boxes and supplies up to 50 pounds. A valid driver's license is required. Attendance is an essential function of this posting. Performs other duties as assigned.
