We have an exciting opportunity for an IT SUPPORT SPECIALIST at our PROVIDENCE, RI location. This is 1 of 2 primary IT contacts for the US and Mexico and requires excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, to coordinate with Mahr’s global IT team in Germany.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain, implement, install, deploy and configure all asset management to include - inventories of all IT assets for US based locations; IT enterprise images for PC’s (desktops/laptops); operating systems and software; patch systems to protect against viruses/malware; hardware (desktop/laptops/mobile devices); remote management tools and inventory.
- Provide technical and desktop support to include – in person and remote support to users in multiple locations; movement of Masergy VoIP system, as required; audio/visual equipment; Mahr’s network infrastructure and servers, including printers and copiers; company issued cell phones; support for LAN/WAN/WLAN peripherals, such as switches, routers, access points, etc.
- Provide administrative support and workflow to include – collaborating with internal and external groups to improve overall customer service and support; continually working with the global IT team to ensure health and high level reliability of the end user computing environment; performing timely response and support during scheduled and authorized non-business hours; clearly communicating and/or escalating any IT operations issues or disruptions (planned or unplanned) to minimize user impact; supporting virtualization technologies (such as VMWare) and NAS (NetApp); managing and supporting a cloud-based phone system, conference room solutions and digital signage; managing ISPs for all locations.
- Collaborate with the IT Manager to - ensure accurate departmental budgeting and payment of monthly invoices; manage/purchase/support network hardware (computers/laptops, copiers, printers, switches, access points and firewalls) and manage hardware and software vendors.
- Assist with creating and maintaining all policies, procedures, and best practice documents.
Education / Qualifications / Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems and three (3) years of relevant experience supporting Microsoft Operating Systems, preferably in a service desk environment with a helpdesk ticketing system; or Associate’s degree and five (5) years of similar experience.
- Excellent technical knowledge of network and PC hardware, including Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Office 365 Suite, Windows Desktop Operating Systems (10 & 11) & PC hardware configuration skills.
- Experience with Active Directory user account administration, password resets, security groups and other AD functions.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 Applications (including Azure Active Directory).
- Working technical knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems, and standards
- Career experience in manufacturing, engineering or supply chain business environments.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Strong service orientation and time management skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 50lbs.
