Rehab/Support Officer £11.50 an hour

Headway Southampton is a charity that improves the lives of people after brain injuries. We are at an exciting chapter of our journey as we expand to provide more services.
We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic individual who can help host our rehab sessions at our purpose-built centre in Totton, Southampton. You will have had experience in hospitality or customer service, education, or within a social care setting. You will need to be a people’s person and help make our service users feel at home.
This role offers great working hours, and we believe in making sure our staff have the right work life balance! The role can be a full or part time position depending on the right person and their situation.

WHAT IS THE ROLE
To meet both individual and group needs of the service users by running a wide range of rehabilitation activities (sport, arts, crafts, cooking, IT, cultural visits, discussion groups) within and outside of the centre. To be a key worker to certain individuals, supporting them to create, and work towards achieving, the goals in their rehabilitation action plan. As well as holding zoom sessions and offering online support.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative. Experience of working in the health and social care sector (not essential as training given). The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Capable of carrying out project work and appropriate individual activities according to the needs of the service users. This can on occasions include personal care.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
A University degree or NVQ3 Qualification in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification/experience. However not essential as full training will be given.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
To develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, service users and their families/carers. Welcoming visitors to the Centre and communicating with transport providers, work experience students, therapists, charity donors and community partners.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
· The Ability to research, plan and carry out activities/workshops within and outside of the Centre and remotely on Zoom.
· A good sense of humor, plenty of enthusiasm, adaptable and able to use own initiative.
· An awareness of the sensory, cognitive, and physical disability of a person who has sustained a brain injury and able to support service users who have complex needs and behavioral problems.
· The skills to manage a small team of volunteers and workplace students and delegate tasks appropriately. Have good written and recording skills to carry out admin duties as required and contribute to the maintenance of service users’ records and progress reports.
· A pro-active and reliable team player.
· A driving license is essential, along with a willingness to drive company vehicles.
· IT skills. To have an understanding and experience of using Microsoft Office and Zoom
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
· To plan, research and run rehabilitation activity sessions within and outside of the centre (cooking, IT, badminton, discussion groups, creative writing, art, craft, gardening, cultural visits, tennis, golf, swimming, cognitive workshops)
· To help run remote service plans and support on Zoom and other conference call platforms.
· To support service users to achieve the objectives of their rehabilitation action plan.
· To support service users in appropriate, practical, educational, employment, training, social and leisure activities that contribute to their development towards independence.
· To assess and arrange support service users at home and in voluntary work and employment, as well as remotely using Zoom and other conference call platforms.
· To contribute ideas for the development both of individual programs and of the service in general.
· To provide appropriate and quality care for service users, this may sometimes include assistance with eating, drinking, personal hygiene, and toileting.
· To contribute appropriately to relevant service users’ records, and to observe confidentiality rules and procedures.
· To accompany and to transport service users to appropriate social, leisure, educational and other activities in the local community.
· To work in an appropriately respectful way with service users, family members, carers, colleagues, other professionals, and members of the public.
· To represent Headway Southampton effectively and to promote its interests and reputation.
Hours:
This is a Full-time role (35 Hours) working mainly Monday to Friday 8.30am to 3.30pm some flexibility may be required
