Job description
The Support Officer role involves working with families and children who have supervised family time as directed by court, child in need, child in care and child protection care plans.
The role involves travelling and transporting oneself and others to agreed venues/community activities as well as being based at Dunstall Street Centre, this can also involves completing work outside of the county as necessary.
Life story work is completed following referral from social workers, creativity and good IT skills are required to complete this. A good understanding and knowledge of child development, child legislation policy and procedures for children and families needing the support of social worker involvement is required Ideally, the successful applicant will have excellent IT skills for creating, storing and retrieving a wide range of reports.
Excellent communication skills are necessary to support children and families as there can be challenging and difficult situations which can be physically and emotionally challenging.
The Support Officer Team is continuing to develop in all aspects of the service provided and welcomes creativity, participation and innovation for the benefit of all accessing the service. This is a Monday – Sunday 9-9 service and therefore weekend working/late working and flexibility regarding working arrangements is essential. Ability to work independently and be an effective team member is expected.
