The opportunity

DC Thomson’s Commercial Operations team is undergoing a period of transformation, adopting new ways of working across a new department-wide structure and creating new functions to support the success of our Commercial team. Supporting our sales organisation in daily activity and identifying new opportunities to bringing efficiency, automation, and insight. Sales Enablement functions is a newly established team which will work as part of this framework to provide the necessary sales materials, training, and support to the Commercial team.

Reporting into the Sales Enablement Manager, the Sales Support lead will work hand in hand with our sales and wider operations teams to ensure the success of advertising campaigns, providing governance of the ad booking process and providing excellent support to our clients. Your ability to be extremely well-organised, always one step ahead, is important, as is being a good people-person with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and support your team.

What will you be doing as Sales Support Team Lead?

  • Leading the sales support team
  • Ensure order capture and processing are handled in an efficient and timely manner
  • Position Sales Support as the central point of contact between national, local and events sales, the Commercial Operations team and our advertisers post sale
  • Establish and track goals with your team members
  • Liaise between sales, production, and warehouse teams to ensure all departments are in sync
  • Take an active part in projects and ongoing workstreams focused on refining and improving department process and system
  • Advise on Gemstone best practice working with Sales Enablement and Sales leadership to improve ways of working, reporting on progress
  • Work to improve wider commercial teams use of Gemstone, identifying any opportunities to optimise workflows, systems, etc.
  • Attend regular inter-department meetings

Ensure that team:

  • Work with key stakeholders which include sales teams (internal and external) and wider commercial operations team teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of all materials related to a booking post sale
  • Manage all advertiser campaigns from the point of a booking being confirmed to fulfilment. Ensuring that the correct booking, delivery, and creative specifications are shared and adhered to.
  • Support planning department if support is required to escalate the delivery of missing creative assets
  • Process and book features, campaigns, and advertisements across our portfolio for our National and 3rd party sales teams considering special positions, technical specification and planning notes when required
  • Analyse and review incoming artwork to ensure it conforms to our technical specification across print and digital products using pre-flight processes
  • Email proofs where automated processes may not be an option and liaise with customers for final checks and respond to any changes as required
  • Liaise with creative, production and ad operations teams to drive efficiencies with copy-flow and campaign delivery
  • Working with DC Thomson’s accounts teams to resolve all invoicing queries promptly, raising proforma invoices and chasing prepayments from clients
  • Coordinate response to all incoming requests, providing accurate and timely delivery of information
  • Participate in projects across the group to find efficiencies and improve our operating processes
  • Actively participate in any training which may be available to ensure personal development and undertake bespoke system training or software training when required

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • A high-level of competency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Familiarity with office technology and applications
  • High degree of numerical accuracy with conscientious attitude to problem solving

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 35 hours per week from any one of our local offices. The role presents the opportunity of hybrid working that must include regular office attendance.
