Job description
We have an excellent opportunity for a Support Data Engineer to join Legal & General Retail and to be responsible for the monitoring of the productionised Data Ops solutions, which form the foundations of the L&G Retail data estate. In this role, you will execute the processes and controls in accordance with the agreed Support Strategy, working closely with the Support Lead to promote said strategy across Data Ops and thereby contribute to its evolution.
You will come from an IT Support background, confident communicating to all levels of stakeholder and be able to fully embrace a Data Engineering role
This position will offer and fully support opportunities for future development and qualifications where relevant in Snowflake, Wherescape, Engineering, Alteryx.
What you'll be doing- Monitoring of the productionised data solutions produced by the various Data Ops domains and ensuring any issues or failures are notified to the Support Lead as they occur
- Ensuring all issues are documented and can be used for analysis
- Contributing to the Support function’s backlog management & prioritisation using the appropriate tools
- Communicating issues that affect the availability or accuracy of a supported solution to both internal customers and external partners.
- Engaging with our technology providers to escalate any issues that require specialised expertise outside of the Support domain
- Contributing to the Support documentation and adhering to the agreed standards when producing or updating it, ensuring consistency and usability by the wider team
- Using modern Extract Transform Load techniques and tools to implement a variety of data solutions when needed in support of the wider Data Ops delivery requirements – full training will be provided
- Participating occasionally in migration & test activities that involve covering non-core hours, often working with our 3rd party IT suppliers to deliver high quality solutions in a timely manner
- A background in incident/problem management in a data driven environment such as engineering, data delivery etc will be beneficial
- Strong communication skills and passion to support customers
- Previous exposure to working in an Agile environment (Scrum/Waterfall)
- Willing to learn aspects of ELT/ETL, metadata management, data integration, data management in transit and at rest & data streaming
- Willing to learn SQL& Powershell as well as the Kimball database techniques
- It would be advantageous to have experience with the following tools and platforms: Wherescape RED & 3D, Snowflake, Postgres, SQL Server, Pebble, Salesforce, Qlik Replicate, Power BI and Service Desk tools such as ServiceNow – however full training will be provided
