Job Title: Field Service Engineer
Location: Herefordshire with travel - primarily to UK destinations
Salary: £50,000+ negotiable depending on experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Working on one of our key programs delivering support on advanced, interrelated and ever changing Ministry of Defence system
- Supporting and training users working with a system that is directly involved in ensuring the National Security of the UK, through provision of defined training courses as well as ad-hoc training delivery
- Act on behalf of end users to accept system updates, and provide system configuration and deployment advice at the point of demand
- Working with users and the engineering team within BAE you will delve deep into system fault investigations and help to diagnose issues, define workarounds and recommend solutions
- Working alongside a team of software & systems engineers and help to define system improvements and support end users to understand the system capability and updates
- As new capability is introduced, you will be involved in the design of further defined training courses
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Understanding of tactical communications and information systems, like tactical radios, ancillaries, or military applications
- Experience with operation, maintenance and repair of portable electronics
- Understanding of IP Networking
- Understanding of radio communications, antennas & propagation
Desirable:
- A Military background (or relevant experience within a military setting), preferably from within the Royal Corps of Signals (Communications Systems Operator or Engineer)
- Experience in the delivery of training in a military environment

The team:
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be based within a discrete project team to facilitate onsite support of a new in-service communications and information system. You will have regular interaction with the end-users, proving them support and fielding their questions and feedback about the system.
As the primary user interface, you will be their first port of call, and will be seen as the system SME. Your knowledge, experience and understanding of the way our users interact with the system will be paramount in informing engineering priority, and will drive the user acceptance and experience.
