Job Purpose and Mission
The Supply chain planner ensures that the right product is in the right place at the right time in the right quantities to meet customer demand for various customer channels. The role establishes the relevant planning and operational buying approach for assigned categories to achieve customer service, supply chain and financial objectives. Categories relate to Starbucks retail items and cover ambient, chilled and frozen.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Conducts ongoing development of inventory strategies to determine cost-effective use of inventory investment while maximizing inventory turns and meeting service level targets;
- Sets up the system and maintains parameters to support an optimal planning setup and achieving the planning objectives;
- Uses planning systems and tools to effectively and efficiently create tactical and strategic inventory and supply solutions. Applies system development and enhancement to his/her categories;
- Identifies capacity gaps, mitigating risks and recommending changes to sourcing or agreements with suppliers.
- Develops and maintains buy plans and submits and monitors purchase orders;
- Prepares availability, total cost of ownership, stock health and other analyses to facilitate cost and service improvements;
- Identifies and recommends opportunities to reduce costs and prepare for future growth;
- Drive and implement small continuous improvements projects related to Planning;
- Participates as a supply planning representative in cross-functional project teams, supporting timely project completion through enforcing the commercialization process and by securing the supply planning requirements timely and to a correct standard;
- Establishes and maintains supportive relationships with customers, suppliers and team partners to ensure effective communication of tactical and operational issues. Serving as a liaison on operational and tactical topics between suppliers and supply chain partners and ensuring effective and efficient communication to customers;
- Is a supportive and active team member, creating an inspiring environment enabling development and growth.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
We’re looking for a qualified Supply Planner who has a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Supply Chain, or operational position, using inventory or planning system tools.
- Bachelor or Master’s degree, preferably in Logistics or Supply Chain Management;
- Ability to work both independently and as part of the team;
- Root cause analysis and problem-solving skills;
- Strong analytical, quantitative, problem-solving skills and detail orientated;
- Good knowledge of purchasing, demand and supply planning and inventory management processes;
- Being able to work in a multi-cultural, dynamic environment;
- Result and solution driven approach to work;
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines;
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing;
- Ability to deliver small projects and work as a subject matter expert on larger projects;
- Excellent command of the English language.
