About Our Opportunity:
Northern RNA is currently recruiting for the position of Supply Chain Coordinator. This is a split role between Material Management and Global Logistics in a fast-paced working environment. Northern’s growing business requires a driven and enthusiastic individual to help us organize, improve, and meet clients’ needs. The ideal candidate should have some experience with material management and global logistics, can bring industry best practices into Northern RNA’s operation, and is open to learning new things.
Primary Responsibilities:
Logistics
- Process time-critical and temperature-controlled export shipments, including the development of shipping documents in a regulated industry.
- Ensure shipments follow the Standard Operating Procedure as per Quality Assurance and meet the requirement of border compliance programs imposed by different government agencies.
- Verify production completion times and inventory availability to coordinate with ship dates and delivery dates.
- Provide high-quality customer service through on-time communication to clients on order status, shipment notifications, and logistics issue resolutions.
- Collaborate with freight forwarders and vendors to build trusted business partnerships.
- Maintain Key Performance Indicators to monitor logistics performance and costs.
- Maintain up-to-date customer master profiles.
- Work in a cross-functional setting to identify opportunities, develop solutions and execute process improvements to manage costs and improve productivity.
- Update and maintain all information in the Enterprise Resources Planning software.
- Assist in Material Management as required, and act as the backup to shipping and receiving.
- Other duties may be assigned by the department manager.
Material Management
- Responsible for inventory control in a manufacturing setting.
- Assist in the maintenance of product and location integrity.
- Coordinate and integrate efforts across operational departments to improve inventory accuracy.
- Execute physical inventory counts based on a pre-determined schedule.
- Investigate the cause of discrepancies and report findings to Quality Assurance.
- Perform other material management assignments as required.
Education, Work Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
Formal Education:
- Diploma or college certificate specializing in a related field (supply chain management in general, or specialized in logistics and transportation or material management).
Work Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years of logistics and inventory management experience within a manufacturing environment.
- A minimum of 1 year of customer service experience.
- Previous experience coordinating cross-border freight and temperature-controlled shipments in a highly regulated industry.
- Previous experience working in a Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO), a third-party testing facility, or a biotechnology company performing similar activities is preferred.
- Previous experience with GDP, GDocP and GMP an asset.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong English written and oral communication.
- Experience with an ERP system.
- Computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel).
- Basic knowledge of applicable regulatory frameworks – Import/Export in Canada, Health Canada Border Compliance Program, FDA Product Code, and etc.
- Basic understanding of quality management in a manufacturing setting.
- Independent, detail-oriented, self-starter with excellent analytical skills.
- A high level of critical thinking and the ability to multitask and succeed in a team environment.
Working conditions:
- Physical environment: The incumbent is usually located in an office environment, and warehouse visits and shipping/receiving activities are part of the daily routine.
- Physical effort: Much of the time is spent sitting in a office position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. The Candidate should be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Sensory Attention: A considerable amount of reading and analysis of data and documentation. Information, data, and communication means are transferred digitally, requiring most of the working hours read from the computer screen concentration and attention to detail, else reading from packaging information of inventory printed in different forms.
- Mental Pressures: There is considerable need to balance multiple conflicting priorities when working with various departments and projects. Safety and compliance issues are sensitive and, at times highly confidential. Many times, these situations are stressful for the employees.
