Job summary
To lead the delivery of key activities contributing to the operational Supply Chain Management (SCM) of Ground Fuels to MOD and Entitled Personnel including Inventory Management, Supplier Management, Demand Management and Performance Management activities.
To lead a team of Supply Chain staff and provide Subject Matter Expertise to the business.
From 01 April 2023 the Defence Fuels Acquisition Programme and the Defence Fuels Safety Authority will combine to become the new Operational Energy Authority (OEA). Come and join us for an exciting opportunity to join at the start of the creation of the OEA, where you will be able to contribute, develop and evolve within this new forward thinking organisation as it moves towards its vision for transforming the existing Defence Fuels enterprise.
From the 1st April 2023, Defence Fuels Acquisition Programme (DFAP) will transfer from Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) to UK Strategic Command to form the OEA. As a result your employment terms will reflect the advert, and your employment will be with MoD Main UK Strategic Command from this date.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
1. Engage with key stakeholders and agree required service levels within own area of responsibility.
2. Develop Demand and Supply Plans to deliver the required levels of service and optimise inventory within their area of responsibility.
3. Lead a team to deliver the required service levels, monitoring performance against plan, providing effective management and oversight, and taking corrective action as required.
4. Lead a team on SCM-related projects, providing direction, guidance, and effective corrective actions as appropriate.
5. Ensure all personnel within their area of responsibility understand the need for data accuracy and their accountability for delivering this. Contribute to Inventory Systems Optimisation initiatives recognising the need to seek and deliver Continuous Improvement wherever possible.
6. Make purchasing decisions in accordance with their level of financial delegation. Monitor all aspects of SCM performance, identify opportunities for improvement and initiate corrective action where necessary.
7. Lead, motivate and develop staff to build capability within the Function.
8. Be responsible for management of accounting aspects of SCM within their area of responsibility.
9. Be responsible for the production of monthly management information reports to customers.
10. Be accountable for the application or development of SCM Policy and Processes.
Person specification
To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following desirable criteria:
- Experience of stakeholder and relationship management
- Experience in delivering customer service
- Experience in leading a team
- Experience of continuous improvement and leading a team through change
- Experience working in and developing a Supply Chain
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams)
- Experience in Base Inventory Warehouse Management Systems (BWIMS)

Sift will be conducted within two weeks of advert closure, successful candidates will be invited to interview.
