Boortmalt's expertise is widely acknowledged by brewers and distillers who rely on the supply of top quality barley malt. Our relationship with Axereal, Europe's largest grain cooperative, ensures us access to high quality barley year round.
Main tasks
As the Supply Chain Coordinator, you will work alongside the Production, Operations and Quality departments based in Bury-St.-Edmunds.
This is an essential role within the barley procurement department to plan and execute the supply of malting barley into three malting sites across England (Knapton) and Scotland (Glenesk and Buckie).
You will provide an important link between suppliers and colleagues to allow more informed decisions to be made and to meet our business demands.
- Barley purchase contract entry and administration into Operra.
- Implementation of the barley procurement strategy.
- Maintaining and managing barley planning for both malting sites in Scotland and weekly barley planning with the Knapton team, visiting all three locations regularly.
- Coordinate call off of barley contracts with suppliers.
- Liaise with your colleagues and our suppliers to ensure procured barley meets the quality standards required by the business and ultimately our customers – use of technology to allow data driven decisions to be made.
- Conduct and coordinate payments to all barley suppliers.
- Involvement and assist in the budgeting and forecasting process.
- Maintain and develop relationships with suppliers.
- Provide support to the Scottish harvest team.
- Support the sales team and involvement in customer meetings as required.
- Monitor and participate in the development and evaluation of new barley varieties.
- Involved in supplier review process.
- Assist and support UK Barley Procurement manager as required.
Master we are looking for?
- Degree in agriculture and/or agribusiness would be of benefit although not essential.
- Minimum 2 years work experience.
- A knowledge of agricultural markets and commodities would be beneficial.
- You speak fluently English. French or Spanish is a big plus
- Good level of Excel, experience of ERP systems and PowerBI would be of benefit.
- You are self motivated and energetic individual who has an ability to multitask, with a keen attention to detail.
- You will be working within our small team and as such relationship building, team working, and a willing mindset are essential.

Salary: £33,000.00-£37,000.00 per year
