Supervisor, Localisation Operations

Job Summary:
This role encompasses the operational responsibility for all aspects of the localisation and the creation of digital assets (components) for Disney Branded (Disney Channel and Disney Junior) linear content.
The Supervisor should have relevant experience of content localisation, production, mastering and digital distribution; in addition they should have excellent project management skills, attention to detail and organisational ability.
The Supervisor will also be expected to provide support to the Content & Localisation Manager, including coaching the team, running internal team meetings in the manager’s absence, and working with senior stakeholders as required.
Key Responsibilities
- First point of contact for the team for day-to-day issues
- Escalate team issues (with proposed solutions) as required to the Departmental Manager
- Own high profile titles and then allocate other title responsibilities across the team’s title experts, ensuring that accurate and timely orders are raised to commission the localisation (dubbing, subtitling, access services and metadata) of content in line within agreed deadlines and to agreed technical standards and costs (SLAs) while ensuring creative consistency.
- Ensure that the relevant title experts own the localisation across multiple titles and territories - including creating and tracking orders on our tracking system Symphony - and the negotiation of dubbing delivery schedules.
- Run regular reports to check that all dates in Symphony are accurate and that any late deliveries are proactively chased and – where needed – the business is updated.
- Update and maintain records to reflect current delivery status of materials, including library remastering projects, in various databases.
- Monitor the Jira workflows around rejections to ensure that all redeliveries/replacements are actioned within agreed turnaround times.
- Collaborate on specific projects and identify opportunities to improve workflows.
- Create and update relevant workflow documentation to reflect process changes as required.
- Resolve metadata integrity issues across stakeholders.
- Track metrics for the on time delivery of local dubs and scripts, local language masters, components and localised metadata across the team.
- Provide theoretical schedules and cost models to support incremental sales as required.
- Provide support to the Departmental Manager, including coaching the team, approving orders, running internal team meetings, and working with senior stakeholders as required.
- Train and support new starters within the department
Other General Activities
- Attend and contribute to the Team, Departmental and other meetings as required.
- Coordinate representation of Technical Services within broader Company meetings as required.
- Work effectively with departmental colleagues and cross-functionally with other members of Content Operations
- Work with TWDC Accounts Payable to resolve Vendor billing issues.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external parties.
- Maintain a strong awareness of technical developments in the digital media space.
- Drive to continually develop knowledge of the product slate, media types and the territories, including customers & market dynamics.
- Provide training for Content & Localisation colleagues as required.
- Participate in systems testing and contribute suggestions for workflow and systems improvement.
Experience and Qualifications
Essential:
- Background or experience in a production/operations role, preferably in a creative environment
- Excellent and demonstrable project management experience, including the handling of rejections and tracking vendor performance through metrics.
- Experience of File based and High Definition technology, New Media and electronic file delivery.
Desirable:
- Thorough experience in content localisation, production, mastering and digital distribution.
- Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Good knowledge of SAP and Cognos reporting an advantage.
- Strong presentation skills.
