The vacancy is within the Routine and Reactive team of the Surrey Highways Term Maintenance contract. The Supervisor will be working under the guidance of the Safety Defect Contract Manager.
The Safety Defect Supervisor will be part of the safety defects team working alongside supervisors, schedulers and managers to deliver the Safety defect service in Surrey. This service is one of the core services in the contract is is one of the key service areas that must be carried out to ensure public safety is maintained on the Surrey network.
The postholder will be part of a team responsible for delivering the Safety Defect service.
The Supervisor will be responsible for enuring that subcontractors and gangs are working safely and effectively carrying out safety defect repairs across the netowrk. They will be expected to:
- Carry out regular safety and compliance audits.
- Ensure the service is delivered in accordance with the contractual obligations as agreed with Surrey County council.
- Ensure that the Performance Indicators are monitored and targets achieved.
- Driving Licence
- Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) certificate

Working knowledge of The Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works
Competent IT skills and computer literacy using
- MS Office
- MS Outlook
Minimum 5 years experience in highway construction or related activities.
Good knowledge of the principles of various types of contracts.
ICE, NEC JCT etc
Knowledge of Highway repair techniques, traffic management (Chapter 8), works outputs and scheduling.
Enthusiasm, team player
Flexible in terms of hours worked and attitude
