Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) is the leading provider of EXL programs in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our mission is to promote the healthy development of individuals, families, and communities through direct services, volunteerism, and partnerships. During the summer, BACR provides nine-hour days of safe and engaging opportunities to children and youth in Kinder through 8th grade. We pay close attention to the participants’ social-emotional development and provide opportunities to stimulate collaboration, relationship-building, leadership, and communication skills. Our programs in San Rafael aim to avoid summer learning loss in a camp-inspired environment by offering a well-balanced menu of activities. From cooking to coding, sports to math games, reading to field trips, every day is filled with laughter and enjoyable learning experiences where students and staff can thrive.
Program Info
- $19-$24 /hr dependent on experience, up to 1.5 hours of overtime pay per day
- Work days: June 12th - July 28 2023 with June 19th & July 3-4 as paid holidays
- Work hours: Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:30pm (lower grades) or 8:30pm-6:30pm (upper grades)
- Potential to transition to work part time during REPLACEMENT_STRING2024 school year
- Work Location: Bahia Vista Elementary or Venetia Valley Middle
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to work every day during program hours and commit to ALL the required dates for the position
- Must enjoy working with children and youth
- Previous knowledge of camp-style games and activities that promote learning
- Must have 48 or more college units or pass the Instructional Aide exam, which BACR can administer
- Must pass a criminal background check, provide TB test clearance and proof of COVID vaccine

- Must be able to work in a fast pacing environment and be adaptable to changes
- Ability to work as a member of a team and to handle multiple priorities and strict deadlines
- Ability to communicate openly and in a professional manner with participants and stakeholders

Responsibilities
- Develop, plan, and prepare enrichment activities for students
- Facilitate engaging activities for groups of 20-25 participants at a time
- Support students in developing the skills they need to be successful in school and life
- Promote a safe and positive program environment: be a positive role model, use encouraging language, and have a restorative approach to behavior guidance
- Actively supervise students at all times
- Follow the program schedule and implement activities with fidelity
- Ensure that all school space and equipment are left clean and in order
- Maintain accurate attendance records and reporting procedures
- Work with a group partner and follow directions from the Site Coordinators

Above is the pay range for this position that we reasonably expect to pay. Individual compensation is based on various factors including experience/education, skillset, and geographic location.
