Job description
Ankura is a team of excellence founded on innovation and growth.
This position supports the Ankura Risk, Forensics & Compliance Business - one of seven practices focused on client delivery services across the Firm.
Our Summer Internship Program offers high-calibre students the opportunity to experience work life at Ankura and gain valuable insight into our business and culture. You will work alongside experienced professionals across the company on a wide range of investigative matters including asset tracing exercises, strategic intelligence gathering and analysing financial frauds. You will work closely with clients, legal counsel, and litigation funders and can therefore expect to experience exposure to a wide range of professional stakeholders throughout the program.
Our Asset Tracing and Complex Investigations team provides investigative support to help clients solve complex problems typically in connection with various legal processes and disputes. Our Asset Tracing and Complex Investigations team sits within the Risk, Forensics & Compliance practice which focuses on assisting clients with fraud investigations, accounting, and economic issues associated with complex litigation. Our services typically target a range of subjects such as individuals, corporate entities, and even sovereign state governments.
What you’ll gain
Not only will our program enable you to discover first-hand if asset tracing is the right career path for you but will also enable you to develop transferrable skills that will serve you throughout your career regardless of discipline. Working alongside experienced professionals across multiple practice areas is a great way to help you make the right career decision, while developing your professional capabilities and network. You will also benefit from dedicated support from a performance manager/coach, dedicated buddy, and colleagues to assist your learning.
Our Programme is designed with a long-term vision in mind and could see you returning to complete your academic studies with a full-time graduate role on offer, allowing you to focus on continuing to excel in your studies.
Interns perform a wide range of functions that may include:
- Developing and performing investigative research in multiple jurisdictions and languages (if additional languages are spoken);
- Helping to analyse client materials including financial data, legal filings, official property and corporate records;
- Supporting with business development initiatives through preliminary research, drafting proposals, and generating business leads;
- Helping to prepare briefing memos for client meetings;
- Coordinating with Ankura colleagues in other practices on active project work as necessary (for example, there may be scope for our e-discovery, cybersecurity, or forensic accounting colleagues to assist or cross-sell their own work to our clients and vice versa);
- Drafting client-facing deliverables including reports, visual outputs, and exhibits.
Requirements
Due to the expected volume of applications, we cannot accept incomplete applications. Please submit an-up-to date CV along with a short cover letter outlining your motivation for pursuing a role in Ankura’s Asset Tracing & Complex Investigations practice and your understanding of what Asset Tracing & Complex Investigations does. Please note that this is not an asset management role.
Shortlisted applicants will be asked to submit a timed written exercise remotely based on a practical case study which is designed to assess research, analytical, and drafting skills, which will be followed by two interviews.
- You will need to be in your penultimate year of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree or in your final year of an undergraduate degree with a one-year postgraduate place confirmed; and

- A working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as strong research, analytical, and communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Initiative, adaptability, creative problem-solving skills, and teamwork.
- In addition to English, fluency in a second language such as Russian, Arabic, French, Portuguese, or Spanish, among others would be very beneficial (although not formally required).
