Job Description
At Tradeweb, we're constantly moving forward. We were the first to electronify the bond market, and we've been innovating ever since. Come join our team and find out what it means to lead the way into the future of electronic trading. Collaborate with our creative thinkers who have the vision and the drive, and learn how you too can make an impact of your own.
What's in it for you?
As an intern, you won't just be along for the ride. You'll work with our technologists and business experts to gain practical, hands-on experience that you can actually use. Our program combines traditional classroom-settings with project-based work where you can get involved with the products and services the firm is working on. Along the way, you'll have guidance from people at all levels of the organization so you can start to build a long-lasting professional network and build relationships with the intern class through interactive outings and projects.
Group Details:
We are looking for JavaScript interns to help build HTML5-based UI products for our global, market-leading trading platform.
As a self-starter, you will be able to take a complex problem and use your own engineering and debugging skills to dissect and analyse it, and distil a clear solution. You will be able to proactively identify problems faced by our customers, and figure out creative technological solutions to these.
As traders rely on our platform to trade and consume real-time data about hundreds of financial products simultaneously, performance of our UI is critical. Therefore, interest in JavaScript and HTML5 application performance and optimisation is important. Ideally, you will be keenly in touch with the JavaScript community and keeping an eye on the latest developments in ECMAScript, JS engines like V8, web browsers, and TypeScript. Experience in applying automated testing e.g. unit testing, its benefits, and associated practices like TDD, on large-scale codebases will be valuable.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for delivering software end-to-end.
- Liaising with product managers and designers, to coordinating across international development teams on engineering and architecture, to working with our QA and dev ops teams.
- To deliver a quality, innovative product to the traders and investors who depend on our platform every day.
- Architecture, implementation, and delivery of new web-based trading UI functionality.
- Problem solving and debugging skills, especially for production issues.
- Hosting and participating in code review
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or Master's degree in Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
- At least 3 years’ academic web application development experience
- Basic knowledge of and interest in financial markets and technology
- Ability to analyse a problem, take a view and present a plan of action
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Be motivated by team work
- Confidence to ask questions to further their knowledge and understanding of electronic trading and market structure
- Proactive and team player who can deliver in a high-pressure demanding environment
