Job description

Studio Trainee/Assistant - OMA Film Studios

Website:https://www.omastudiogroup.com

Contract: 12 month Fixed-Term

Location: Enfield

In bringing OMA Film Studios to the borough of Enfield, we are looking to make a positive impact on the area and provide an opportunity to learn to a local inhabitant. As such, any applicant for this role should be a resident of Enfield, Haringey or Waltham Forest. This learning experience will give any school leaver the skills and contacts in the industry to take them forward with them in their long-term career. You don’t need any Studio Management experience to apply for this role (see below for more details). We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome diversity at our company.

The Company

Location Collective are London’s leading agency providing space for the film industry. We represent all types of property for film production use, from lived-in homes, to operational and institutional buildings, to vacant offices and industrial development sites. More recently, we have begun to take the company in a new direction; leasing our own site and converting it into London’s largest film studio (OMA) to help fulfil the increasing demand for studio space in London. We are an energetic and creative company with a dynamic feel and a fun, open, collaborative culture. Our mission is to make London’s buildings the most film friendly on the planet. We’ve set ourselves ambitious growth targets for the coming years. We are lucky enough to work with every production shooting in the capital; a small selection of recent credits includes Rocketman, Gangs of London, The Batman, Chernobyl, Yesterday, Judy, The Gentleman, Good Omens, A Confession, Succession, This Time with Alan Partridge, Top Boy and Ghosts.

The Role

We are looking to help someone with no industry specific experience or training including relevant Film or TV qualifications, to gain access to a career in this exciting industry.

We are currently recruiting for a Studio Trainee position to work across our Enfield sites. We would like to assist someone in their learning by providing on-the-job experience across our Studios and should they be interested, educate them in all areas of our Locations Agency too. To apply you will need to have GCSEs (or equivalent). This role will provide you with your next step into the Film & TV or Locations industry. The specifics of what will be learned will depend on the applicant.

OMA studio group are a very exciting new part of Location Collective’s offering to the film industry. Over the last 3 years we have taken over multiple sites, invested in transforming them into film studios, production offices and workshops. The sites have increased film production studio space within London significantly, helping fill the huge demand for studios as filming continues to boom across the capital. The sites currently host one of the major streaming companies who have set up home with us for the foreseeable future.

Our new trainee will learn about both the studio side of the business and spend time working in our Locations Agency too, to ensure they are fully informed on all the aspects involved in what it is we do. This is a 12 month contract as we believe that at the end of the 12 months you will be ready for your first job in the film industry, building your successful career.

The Role in Detail

Working as a trainee for the Studio management team, you will be trained in and then involved in all aspects of running OMA Film Studios, but to give you an idea of what running a site like this involves, your job description will include:

● Greeting visitors, ensuring they know where they need to go and liaising with the in-house security team

● Updating studio calendars of filming activity

● Photographing individual spaces before they are hired and completing landlord check forms

● Keeping a record of any facilities/maintenance work needed

● Regular condition inspections

● Assisting the film productions on site as required

● Assisting with studio operations

● Assisting with the upkeep of OMA’s social media accounts

● Coordinating and carrying out some administrative duties: answering phones/transferring calls where needed, upkeep of studio files/documents etc

Skills

This role is aimed at someone who does not have any experience in the industry, including any prior training/education, as you will receive this once you join Location Collective. The most important thing is that you come into this learning experience with the right approach; film production is a busy and demanding world and to succeed you will need to:

● Have a friendly, helpful, can-do attitude

● Be good with people and a strong communicator

● Be able to stay calm under pressure or in difficult situations

● Have the ability to think on your feet and work quickly and efficiently to solve issues as they come up

● Have lots of positivity and enthusiasm

● Be good at learning from each challenge that arises and putting steps in place to solve it for the future

It would also be useful if you have experience with some of the following (although this is not essential):

● Microsoft Word, Excel

● Google Drive

● Outlook 365

● Social Media Management

● Photoshop

Package

● £22,500 per annum

● 20 holiday days per annum plus bank holidays, birthday day off and an extended Christmas break
