Job description
The School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics (HAPP) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Student Support Officer.
You will have a focus on student engagement, support and progression, playing a key role in co-ordinating and answering student queries, signposting students towards suitable in-house colleagues and University contacts, required to support their circumstances. The post-holder will proactively manage the Student Support, Exceptional Circumstances and Disability processes, while co-ordinating the scheduling and servicing of Student Support meetings across the academic year, alongside professional service colleagues, related academic staff and University support service colleagues.
The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have:
- Relevant academic/vocational qualifications (e.g., NVQ 3, A levels or equivalent)
- Minimum 4 years’ relevant work experience in a University environment to include:
- Providing support, guidance and signposting for students with complex needs;
- Staff supervision;
- Experience of servicing committees;
- Experience in a student facing role working with Undergraduate and Postgraduate students.
- Dealing with complex, confidential and sensitive email communications and queries from students.
- Experience of reviewing and using current institutional guidelines / policies / regulations and procedures to inform decision making.
- Proven ability in providing advice and guidance to students, in support of their wellbeing and academic progression.
