The opportunity
To support students who declare disabilities, specific learning disabilities or mental health issues to access institutional and DSA-funded support by helping them with the application process.
To support the effective and efficient working of the Student Wellbeing Team by providing an effective triage and case-screening function.
To act as first point of contact for all students and prospective students declaring a disability, specific learning disability or mental health issue.
To triage and assess all students against an agreed framework provided by the Student Wellbeing Manager.
To manage a caseload of students with SpLDs ensuring support requirements and adjustments are communicated to relevant areas and individuals within the university
To support students to make applications for Disabled Students’ Allowance within agreed framework.
To create and circulate Individual Support Plans for students with Specific Learning Disabilities and to follow up on their implementation.
What we are looking for
- Awareness of Disability related issues and how this may relate to University studies.
- Able to build empathy and rapport quickly with a wide range of people.
- Experience of providing support to individuals with an SpLD, disability or mental health issue.
- Experience of managing a busy caseload.
