Student Placement - ADAS Mechanical Engineering

We are reinforcing our ADAS Radar Mechanical Engineering team by offering a 12 Month Student Placement (£18,500 per year) at Blythe Valley Park, Solihull starting in September 2023.
A high calibre Mechanical Engineering student who is specialising within the area of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is sought to spend a year with a team of professionals in the design and development of ADAS Radar products.
Your tasks:
- Contribute to the Radar Mechanical Engineering team development of current and next generation ADAS Radar ECU assemblies.
- Develop techniques to analyse and verify Radar design solutions through virtual testing.
- Research and justify the introduction of new FEA methodologies and improved techniques into current & next generation designs.
- Work alongside key enginerring diciplines to analyse & develop new solutions and methods to move towards a digital twin Radar ECU.
- Generate documentation in support of engineering design and development activities.
Your profile:
- Studying for a Masters or Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering specialising in FEA, having successfully completed at least 2 years of their degree course before the start of the placement.
- Excellent knowledge of the ANSYS FEA workbench module (for structural and thermal simulations) as well as a good understanding of Computer aided design (for example CATIA V5).
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods (casting, injection molding) with an interest in high volume manufacturing of electro-mechanical systems & assemblies.
- Flexible, self motivated and able to work with limited direct supervision.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills and the willigness to learn and develop new skills and work within a team.
