Job description
The Student Experience Directorate (SED) within the University of Southampton is recruiting! Click here to find out more.
We are looking for motivated individuals to work in a variety of our operational, administrative and support roles that directly contribute to our students having the best possible experience whilst studying and living at the University of Southampton. The types of roles available are varied and support the student lifecycle; from first contact with the University to career opportunities post-qualification, whilst looking after the wellbeing of our students during their time here.
With a student body of over 24,000 students, a huge amount of organisational staff are required to guide students though their academic journey. Our roles require strong customer service skills, as you may, for example, be the first point of contact for students who need information or support; or carrying out an administrative role which collaborates with other professional services or academic colleagues to ensure the smooth running of programmes and courses.
We are seeking enthusiastic, proactive individuals, who are brilliant team players, with excellent communication and IT skills. You don’t need to have worked at a University before, or even attended University yourself; so long as you bring the right attitude and passion to work, we look forward to hearing from you!
Working at the University of Southampton gives you access to a wide range of benefits in addition to our competitive rates of pay. Our core benefits include pension scheme membership; a generous annual leave allowance with additional University closure days and public holidays, and excellent family leave arrangements (including maternity, paternity, adoption and parental leave).
The Student Experience Directorate provides support to our students 24/7, 365 days a year, across a diverse range of roles, shift patterns, and locations. The University offers both permanent and fixed term contracts.

With a generous holiday allowance as well as additional university closure days we are committed to supporting our staff and students and open to a flexible working approach.
Shortlisted candidates will receive a short form to complete asking for further information on role and working pattern preferences. In-person assessment days will be scheduled for shortlisted candidates on either the 27th and 28th of April 2023.
If a sufficient number of applications are received this vacancy may close earlier than the date specified at the top of this advert. Therefore, if interested in applying for this vacancy we recommend you submit your completed application form as soon as possible.
