Job description

About ARU:
We are ranked in the world’s top 350 institutions in the 2022 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and we are a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. Our research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical and creative fields. We deliver impactful research which tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities. Our academic excellence has been recognised by the UK’s Higher Education funding bodies, with 16 of our research areas assessed as world-leading. In 2021, we were awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for our world-leading music therapy work.

About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity within the Student Complaints and Conduct Team, located within the Secretary and Clerk's Office for a highly motivated individual with a strong background in casework to further develop their skills and make a positive impact on the student experience.

You will join a highly regarded, small and supportive team to take an active role in student casework. You will cover a variety of issues, including sensitive and potentially high-profile student cases, operating within a procedural and regulatory framework. You will have responsibility for managing individual student cases, applying fair and transparent processes leading to robust outcomes, capable of withstanding the highest levels of scrutiny. You will also play an important role with supporting the University’s work on sexual misconduct and harassment.

Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification, you will have substantial experience of complaints, appeals and/or conduct related casework and of working within a regulatory environment, complying with internal and external deadlines and requirements. If you have previous relevant experience, ideally gained in an education environment, possess basic IT skills, a customer-centric ethos and can demonstrate commitment to our values then we’d love to hear from you.

Informal enquiries can be made to Alice Evans, Student Complaints Manager at [email protected].
