DHL Express UK Ltd are currently looking to recruit a IT Intern on a 12-month fixed-term placement contract. Throughout the placement you will receive exposure to the wider IT teams along with other key business departments, increasing your overall business knowledge and acumen.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
As part of our commitment to your development we will be offering a varied and challenging 12 month undergraduate industrial placement. It is a “hands on” role and you will gain wide-ranging IT exposure.
Throughout the 12 month placement, you may assist with tasks and activities such as:
Information Security:
- Coordinate with the wider business functions to deliver compliance with data protection laws and policies of the Group, via regular audits as part of a coordinated assurance program
- Respond to initial legal queries regarding data protection, filtering and escalating issues to the legal team
- Support with embedding data privacy and security practices to drive compliant IT solutions
Customer Facing IT:
- Ensures and promotes the (correct) use of the Customer Facing IT tools to resolve any challenges or issues
- Support Field Installation Technicians to perform end-to-end quality tests and ensure handover into business as usual support
Infrastructure and Service Delivery:
- Works with business stakeholders to ensure appropriate testing support, communicate progress and advise of likely business impact (service outage)
- Support with the introduction of IT changes throughout the UK organization
- Provide regular high quality reporting, about service related matters (working through Demand IT Service Analyst)
IT Programme Management:
- Assisting in project steering boards to govern deliverables. Communicating progress, risks and escalating issues. Progress reporting
- Supporting with the creation of IT business case submissions to seek project approval
- Ensuring business needs are clearly defined and changes to scope are managed to keep deliverables on schedule

Key Skills and Experience
- The ideal candidate will be working towards a degree in IT or Business and/or similar discipline focused on analytics an expected grade of 2:1 or above
- Good knowledge in Excel and PowerPoint, and overall computer skills
- Soft Skills: numerical, logical & good interpersonal skills
- Keen interest in the working with technology and IT solutions
- Willingness to further explore and develop Excel skills
- Ability to communicate within a team and across all levels, including customers, suppliers and external stakeholders.
- Be proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to set priorities and manage to tight deadlines
