ISAT Total Support (ISAT)/Tomarco is a leading provider of seismic engineering consulting services and the related products and hardware used for nonstructural seismic bracing and the support of Mechanical, Electrical, and Piping systems. Our focus is geared to building utility systems within the commercial and industrial construction markets. Our primary focus includes but is not limited to HVAC, mechanical, piping, distributed electrical systems, plumbing, process piping & fire protection contractors.
Headquartered in Southern California, ISAT also has offices in Northern California, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Utah, Georgia, North Carolina, Chicago, Atlanta, New Zealand, New York, and Puerto Rico. Additional expansion is expected.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position will be based out of our Fremont, CA office. Structural Engineers are responsible for Design work within the Custom Engineering Division.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Responsible for assisting the Custom Engineering Division. In that capacity, the role will include the following responsibilities:
- Perform calculations and assemble all pertinent information into a comprehensive and installer-friendly professional package, including the SE review and wet stamp.
- Assist the Technical Support Engineers in creating professional custom-engineered details and calculations including review and approval.
- Work with engineering staff to provide solutions to custom conditions and assist in creating engineering packages for submittal.
- Provide guidance to tech support staff for seismic engineering.
- Mentor and help develop Junior engineers.
- Attend Job Site Meetings as needed to resolve design issues.
ABILITIES:
Shows ingenuity in completing tasks. Self-motivated and able to work independently for extended periods of time. Strong knowledge of building codes and standards with particular emphasis on the California amendments for OSHPD and DSA-type work. Capable of creating custom submittals for engineered conditions. Produce consistently accurate and thorough work. Works to increase the level of responsibility. Actively looks for, develops, and shares better solutions or ideas. Appropriately selects the most economical design solution. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
KNOWLEDGE AND PROFICIENCY IN THE FOLLOWING CODES AND PROGRAMS:
Building Codes: - ASCE, ACI, NDS, AISC, AISI, IBC, CBC, UFC
Programs: - RISA-3D, Staad, Enercalc, MathCAD, AutoCAD, Revit, MS Office
COMMUNICATION: Able to communicate in all forms of correspondence for tasks related to projects you are associated with. Communicate effectively; improve the company’s ability and knowledge by sharing creative solutions and ideas. Creating Transmittals, sending follow-up emails after Coordination meetings, etc. Additionally, all such communication needs to be electronically documented in project folders.
FURTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- California Licensed Professional Structural Engineer (SE)
- 5 years of progressive experience
Further Qualifications - The successful candidate must also pass a background check.
