About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and collaborative tree officer with a passion for carbon sequestration and biodiversity to manage a small team of arborists and take responsibility for carrying out routine and reactive inspections of the Council’s StreetScene and Housing tree portfolio. You will also set programs of work for the StreetScene tree team; ensure all tree machinery and equipment is fit for purpose and safe systems of work complied with; provide tree management advice; lead on tree planting initiatives; and engage with volunteer groups on tree related matters to support education and wellbeing activities run by the Council.
About you
As a professional, experienced tree officer, you will be methodical and organised and able to plan your often conflicting workload to meet deadlines. You will be competent in sound arboriculture practices, including tree identification, inspection and surveying, tree management, and the identification and mitigation of risk. You will be adept at communicating with people at all levels, able to build rapport quickly, and proficient with IT applications and report writing. If you have a passion for delivering a high quality service, the skills to protect and develop our tree stock, and the experience to build and maintain excellent working relations we would be delighted to hear from you. An accredited arboricultural qualification is essential, along with relevant industry experience.
