We’re on the lookout for people who enjoy working outside to join our seasonal street cleansing team.

It’ll involve being out and about on your own keeping our city clean and tidy.

About the role

The job involves:

  • litter-picking on the streets or the beach
  • emptying bins
  • clearing weeds
  • sweeping
  • pushing a barrow

It is shift work (either 5am to 1pm or 1pm to 10pm) and could be in the city centre, on the beach or in residential areas and is fixed term from April to September.

  • You will need to be: able to walk long distances (7-10 miles a day)
  • self-motivated and able to work on your own as well as part of a team
  • able to lift and carry loads of up to 20kg
  • able to interact with members of the public

There are 10x operatives central AM and 10X operatives central PM positions

You don’t need any special qualifications for this work.

We will provide you with:

  • full induction and training
  • all the equipment you need
  • specialist uniform to keep you safe
  • warm room to rest and dry your clothes at the start and end of your shift as well as on your breaks

You will be on a six-month fixed-term contract

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Work Permits: This role does not meet the requirement for UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Points-based Immigration System. Successful candidates will need to evidence that they have the Right to Work in the UK.
