Job description
- Business Strategy – Maintaining an understanding of the Company’s strategic and financial objectives, with the aim of furthering organic ambitions and initiatives, as well as working closely with TP ICAP’s core divisions to identify and assess relevant targets for potential acquisition and/or commercial partnerships. This will include developing financial models to quantitatively assess relevant opportunities
- Deal Management – Leading and managing the M&A process, coordinating key due diligence workstreams with subject matter experts within the wider Group to evaluate the merits of a potential transaction. This often also involves working closely with third party financial and legal advisors
- Decision-Making Process – Ensuring all M&A and significant commercial partnership decisions follow the corporate governance process for evaluating potential transactions including writing investment papers for the Executive Committee and Board approval
- Research – Research work will include exploration and analysis of topics of interest to the firm, research on specific entities and competitors, and identification of targets having specific capabilities in areas that may be of interest to the Company
- Post-Transaction Planning – Working closely with Group Finance and TP ICAP’s business units to facilitate the development of integration plans, and post-deal assessment frameworks.
- Relationships – Group Strategy works in partnership with Group Finance on both the assessment and integration planning aspects of corporate transactions, as well as with the relevant business units.
- Wider Strategy Group Work – The Group Strategy function is involved in a wide and varied range of group activity and initiatives, across asset classes and regions. As a senior member of the strategy function, your role will include involvement in the broader work of the Company and the team.
- Deal Origination – Building and actively maintaining a robust universe of potential targets for acquisition and/or partnership. Engaging with private equity, investment banks, financial and legal advisors, trade associations, and relevant corporates, with the objective of actively identifying and engaging with attractive targets
Essential
- Proven and experienced communicator who is able to build trust, generate and maintain close working relationships, with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Expertise in the financial analysis of corporate entities.
- Excellent financial modelling and analytical skills.
- Ability to credibly and confidently present to senior internal and external audiences.
- Proven track record of dealing with and influencing across an organisation to achieve objectives especially in respect of Senior Management and external stakeholders.
- Skilled in Microsoft applications (particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
Desired
- Corporate Finance transaction experience, ideally within the financial services sector.
- Big 4 / Corporate Strategy / Corporate Development / Investment Banking work experience, ideally focussed on the financial services sector (highly desirable).
- Ability to provide objective advice.
- Strategic and focused approach to delivery and continuous improvement.
- Ability to ask necessary questions, grasp issues, and work to find creative and innovative solutions to problems.
